Preliminary torsional vibration analysis of the propulsion system

This is a cost-effective service that will give you sound advice and expert support during the propulsion shafting design phase. We will work with you closely and make as many design modifications and vibration analyses as required to obtain a design solution that meets your needs.

This service is ideal for those clients who want to perform a "what-if" study for a recent or a future propulsion shafting design project.

This service is applicable for main propulsion, as well as auxiliary diesel-driven alternator plants.

Torsional vibration analysis of the propulsion system
This service is designed for those clients who wish to obtain classification review-ready documents. If the initial design is not satisfactory, we will complete up to two design modifications in order to satisfy your design requirements.

This service is applicable for main propulsion, as well as auxiliary diesel-driven alternator plants.

Torsional vibration analysis of the propulsion system, including unlimited preliminary torsional vibration analyses (highly recommended!)

This is a service we highly recommend to our clients. For a fixed cost, you will receive expert advice and support during the entire propulsion shafting design process, from the initial design up to the final classification society approval stage.

We will work in collaboration with you and consider the necessary vibration analyses and design modifications to obtain a design solution that meets your needs.

Once the optimum design has been found, we will prepare a final torsional vibration analysis report, ready for immediate submission for classification society approval review.

SP- 04


Axial vibration analysis of the propulsion system
Propulsion plants that satisfy initial requirements regarding torsional vibrations may need additional vibration certification regarding axial vibrations.

This service provides the axial vibration analysis report that is ready for classification society review.

This report is similar to the torsional vibration analysis report, with the following differences: angular displacement diagrams are substituted by axial displacement diagrams; torque diagrams are substituted by axial force diagrams; and torsional stress diagrams are substituted by axial stress diagrams. Lateral vibration analysis of the propulsion shafting

Propulsion plants that satisfy initial requirements regarding torsional and axial vibrations may need additional vibration certification regarding lateral vibrations.

This service provides a lateral vibration analysis report that is ready for classification society review.

The calculation is based upon the rules requirements. The shaftline is modeled as a 2D dynamic system in the vertical plane. The influence of the horizontal displacements is neglected. However, the influence of the oil-film in the radial slide bearings of the shafting is taken into account. Static bearing loading is determined by a static analysis, presuming that all the supports are rigid.Top

Shafting arrangement drawing

This service provides preparation for the shafting arrangement drawing needed for submission to the classification approval review.

The necessary prerequisites include the hull's afterbody drawing, propulsion engine position, the crankshaft's aft flange drawing, the propeller hub drawing and a preliminary or a final torsional vibration analysis. If applicable, additional data or drawings may be required.Top

Printed, signed and bound documentation
In general, calculation reports, as well as drawings, are sent to customers by e-mail in the form of digitally signed  Adobe's PDF  files, as it is the fastest way of document transmission. The clients must print and bind the report on their own.

For those clients who prefer printed, hand-signed and bound documentation, we have designed this service. The finished documentation in five copies, if not otherwise requested, is sent to the client using international courier services.Back to top
